Ever wonder how the nautical look came to be? It all started with a simple little garment called the Marinière. Originally created for the French navy in the late 1850’s, the look has been a staple in French fashion since its introduction by Coco Chanel, quickly becoming a signature in the fashion house. Since its inception, its influence can be seen in all aspects of fashion in modern day ready to wear and accessories, even trickling down to your underwear. Worn by the most iconic of stars, like James Dean, this design was an instant classic, refusing to go out of style, even to this day.
